The Chartered Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the accuracy of all financial records, preparing statutory reports, managing tax compliance, and ensuring the company's financial practices adhere to both Nigerian and international accounting standards. This role requires a strong analytical mind, meticulous attention to detail, and proven expertise in financial reporting within a dynamic, high-volume transaction environment like FinTech.

Key Responsibilities
:

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    Prepare and maintain accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with
    IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
    and local regulations. Provide detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Statutory Compliance and Tax Management:
    Manage all aspects of direct and indirect tax compliance (e.g., Corporate Tax, VAT, PAYE). Ensure timely and accurate filing of all statutory returns with relevant regulatory bodies (e.g.,
    FIRS, LIRS
    ).
  • Audit Management:
    Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors. Prepare comprehensive documentation, manage the audit timeline, and ensure efficient completion of both statutory and internal audits.
  • General Ledger and Control:
    Oversee the integrity of the General Ledger, manage complex reconciliations, and establish robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts. Monitor actual financial performance against budgets, analyzing variances and providing explanations to management.
  • Treasury and Cash Management:
    Support treasury functions, including daily cash flow management, bank reconciliations, and optimizing working capital to ensure liquidity for operational needs.
  • Process Improvement:
    Continuously review and improve accounting processes, policies, and systems to increase efficiency, scalability, and adherence to best practice standards.

Experience & Educational Qualifications

  • Certification:
    Must be a
    Chartered Accountant (ACA or ACCA)
    with a current professional membership license.
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a high-volume, transaction-heavy industry, preferably
    FinTech or Banking.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    Advanced proficiency in financial accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel. Strong grasp of IFRS.
  • Statutory Compliance:
    Proven experience dealing with Nigerian tax and financial regulators (FIRS, LIRS, etc.).
  • Skills:
    Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a strong commitment to ethical practice and integrity.
