Mining Site Operations Manager
Job Summary
The Mining Site Operations Manager is responsible for the overall, end-to-end management of all mining activities, ensuring the site operates efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with regulatory and environmental standards. The ideal candidate is a seasoned Geologist who leverages their technical expertise in solid minerals to optimize extraction processes, manage staff, control budgets, and deliver on production targets. This role requires exceptional leadership and deep practical knowledge of the entire mining lifecycle.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Technical and Production Management:
· Utilize an in-depth understanding of solid minerals and geological data to direct and optimize extraction methods, planning, and resource utilization.
· Supervise all phases of the mining process, from overburden removal and drilling/blasting (if applicable) to extraction, processing, and stock management.
· Develop and manage site production schedules and budgets, ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly output targets are consistently met or exceeded.
· Oversee the maintenance, deployment, and efficiency of all heavy mining equipment, processing plants, and infrastructure.
2. Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ):
· Champion a zero-harm safety culture. Ensure strict adherence to all mandatory safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
· Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks, including geological hazards, equipment failure, and environmental impacts.
· Ensure all mining activities comply with environmental permits and sustainability practices, overseeing rehabilitation and reclamation efforts.
3. Leadership and Personnel Management:
· Directly manage and mentor site supervisors, engineers, and foremen. Foster a disciplined, high-performance, and collaborative work environment.
· Effectively manage human resources on-site, including shift planning, leave management, and conflict resolution.
· Act as the primary site representative for internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, community leaders, and vendors.

4. Financial and Administrative Management:
· Monitor operational expenditures rigorously, seeking opportunities for cost reduction without compromising safety or production quality.
· Prepare detailed, timely, and accurate operational reports, production metrics, and financial forecasts for senior management.
· Oversee site-level procurement of spare parts, consumables, and services, ensuring best value and efficiency.
Required Qualifications and Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, or a closely related field.
Experience:
- A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in the mining industry.
At least 3-5 years of direct managerial experience overseeing an active mining site operation.
Demonstrated technical proficiency and practical experience with solid mineral extraction and processing techniques.
- Proven track record of managing large teams, complex logistics
Core Competencies and Skills:
- Deep practical knowledge of mineral characteristics, resource modeling, and mine planning based on geological data.
- Experience with mine planning software, inventory management systems, and safety compliance tools.
- Proven ability to make rapid, informed decisions under pressure while maintaining safety and operational integrity.
- Unwavering commitment to safety and environmental best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to report to executives and lead diverse field teams.
