Job summary

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Steward to support our culinary team. The ideal candidate will help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and efficiency in the kitchen. You will work behind the scenes to ensure our chefs and cooks have what they need to deliver exceptional dining experiences to guests.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Wash, rinse, and properly store dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area and all back-of-house kitchen spaces.
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and sanitise floors, walls, sinks, counters, and workstations.
  • Ensure proper handling and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Follow HACCP and hotel hygiene standards at all times.

Kitchen Support

  • Assist chefs and cooks with basic food prep (washing, peeling, portioning) when required.
  • Empty trash bins, replace liners, and safely dispose of kitchen waste.
  • Restock cleaning supplies, kitchen tools, and consumables where needed.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries (dry goods, perishables, beverages).
  • Organise and maintain storage areas: dry stores, cold rooms, freezers.

Equipment Care

  • Ensure dishwashing machines and equipment are properly operated and maintained.
  • Report mechanical or maintenance issues immediately to the supervisor.
  • Handle all equipment safely and responsibly.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a steward, kitchen assistant, or cleaner in a hotel or restaurant is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physically fit and able to lift, bend, and stand for long periods.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
