Position Summary

The Chief Cooperative Officer (CCO) will provide strategic and operational leadership to drive the growth, governance, and sustainability of Akilaah Cooperative. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cooperative principles, digital financial ecosystems, and Nigeria's regulatory environment. This position requires a forward-thinking professional capable of translating strategic objectives into measurable results, fostering partnerships, and ensuring compliance and efficiency in all cooperative operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of Akilaah's cooperative development strategy and membership expansion plan.
  • Oversee all cooperative operations, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with financial institutions, government agencies, and cooperative bodies.
  • Promote financial literacy, member engagement, and inclusion initiatives nationwide.
  • Supervise the design and execution of savings, loans, and welfare programs.
  • Collaborate closely with the MAJ Fintech technology team to align digital services with cooperative operations.
  • Prepare regular performance reports and ensure transparent governance processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cooperative Management, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in cooperative management, financial services, or development finance.
  • Proven experience in cooperative leadership, member mobilization, and partnership development.
  • Strong understanding of Nigeria's cooperative laws and financial inclusion landscape.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with digital or fintech-driven cooperative models is an advantage.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/French) is an added advantage.
