As an Adult Care Specialist+, you are part of a trained, compassionate, and deeply trusted group of professionals who provide support to elderly adults, individuals with disabilities, or adults requiring companionship and daily assistance. Each Specialist+ is certified in a specific care combination, ensuring focused, high-quality support tailored to the unique needs of the adult being cared for.
Role Overview
The Adult Care Specialist+ provides compassionate, respectful, and personalized care to adults who need assistance with daily living, chronic conditions, cognitive impairments, mobility challenges, or emotional support. Depending on the assigned combination — Aging Support, Special Needs Care, or Companion Services — the role blends physical assistance, safety monitoring, emotional connection, and practical support.
The ideal candidate is patient, empathetic, attentive, and committed to preserving the dignity, comfort, and independence of the adults they care for.
Key Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities (All Adult Care Specialist+ Combos)
- Provide daily support with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, hydration, and personal hygiene.
- Monitor wellbeing, behavior, and changes in physical or emotional condition.
- Offer companionship through conversation, reading, games, and social interaction.
- Assist with mobility, transfers, walking support, and fall-prevention practices.
- Maintain clean, organized living environments for the adult in care.
- Prepare simple meals or assist with nutritional needs as required.
- Escort adults to medical appointments or accompany them to errands and social activities.
- Maintain confidentiality, respect, and gentleness at all times.
Specialized Responsibilities by Care CombinationAdult Care – Aging Support
- Assist older adults with dressing, medication reminders, hydration, and meals.
- Support with mobility aids such as walkers, canes, and wheelchairs.
- Implement fall-prevention and home-safety practices.
- Provide gentle physical support for stroke survivors or adults recovering from illness.
- Engage seniors in meaningful, mentally stimulating activities.
Adult Care – Special Needs
- Provide tailored support for adults with physical or cognitive disabilities.
- Assist with therapy-aligned routines (occupational therapy, speech cues, behavioral coaching).
- Support adults needing adapted communication methods or sensory regulation.
- Help with transfers, mobility equipment, and home adaptations.
- Follow medical or behavioral care plans provided by family or clinicians.
Adult Care – Companion Services
- Offer emotional presence, conversation, and social engagement.
- Plan light activities such as walks, games, reading, crafts, or outings.
- Reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation for elderly or homebound adults.
- Support with simple errands, reminders, and household organization.
- Create a warm, friendly, and uplifting atmosphere.

Requirements
Education & Training
- Certification in caregiving, eldercare, disability support, community health, nursing assistance, or related fields.
- First Aid & CPR certification (required or willing to obtain).
- Completion of combo-specific training through the Caring Institute (mandatory).
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of adult support, eldercare, disability care, or companion care experience.
- Experience in home settings, senior care facilities, or rehabilitation environments preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of adult care, aging processes, and mobility safety.
- Empathy, patience, active listening, and sensitivity to adult dignity.
- Knowledge of medication reminders, hydration, and basic nutrition.
- Ability to support therapy routines and follow care plans.
- High reliability, discretion, and professionalism.
- Physical ability to assist with mobility and transfers.

- Approximately 60-hour work week
- One full day off weekly (can be accumulated)
