Job Summary
This role will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing daily truck operations, ensuring efficient route planning, fleet monitoring, driver management, and compliance with safety regulations. The role also involves liaising with clients, and service providers to optimize fleet performance, minimize costs, and maintain seamless logistics operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Provide value-added client service
· Being the first point of contact for clients on day-to-day operations in order to clear any exceptions or issues
· Following up on special orders, problems, questions and issues that require immediate attention and answers
2. Coordination of logistics and transport operations including:
· Daily preparation of a list of available trucks to be utilized for operations
· Conduct Pre-trip briefing for drivers and ensure journey plan is issued before dispatch from the loading plant/location and post-trip briefing on return of trip
· Manage all driver-related activities/performances and escalate recommendations to the Drivers Administration Department
· Manage all activities relating to the movement of trucks allocated.
· Coordinate with the client's staff/ officer to ensure orders are issued to all allocated trucks.
· Coordinate with the client's staff/ officers to ensure smooth operations of all allocated trucks within the client premises.
· Monitor/ track the movements of the allocated trucks to ensure CICO at customer's location, On time delivery (OTD) of products to customers and YIGO at the loading Plant of the client.
· Coordinate with drivers for return of trucks within the stipulated time thus ensuring adherence to Turn Around Time (TAT).
· Advise the Logistics Manager on the trucks available/likely to be available for loading everyday morning and follow up with drivers to ensure their arrival as per the plan advised.
· Monitoring, handle and resolve truck idling for quick to ensure truck return back to operation immediately and seek for help/escalation for quick resolution where necessary.
· Ensure strict adherence to the client's safety policies with regard to the operations.
· Escalate customer delays to the Logistics Manager for necessary support.
· Attend to the requirements of the drivers to ensure smooth operations.
· Report offsites/ breakdowns/ impounding by Law Enforcing authorities through email and attach pictures wherever possible to the ERP units
· Generate Work Orders for Off-site trucks and follow up with Logistics Manager for early return of trucks.
· Optimize truck utilization and efficiency.
· Monitor and Prepare Fleet Movement Report (FMR) daily (on resumption and close of business/ duty).
· Prepare a weekly report on truck and driver performance and shortages for submission to Logistics Manager with analysis and proposed plan for improvement of performance.
· Ensure waybills are collected on the return of the truck and shortages, if any, should be recorded and necessary debits to be raised.
· Ensure submission of electronic waybills along with the details of the shortages recorded and debits raised.
· Debrief drivers on return from their journey highlighting the violations reported during the journey.
· Ensure drivers attend Toolbox and other meetings as and when scheduled.
· Escalate drivers' welfare issues/ concerns to Logistics Manager for quick resolution.
· Ensure documents required as per Federal/ State Government and FRSC laws are issued to the drivers on renewal as advised by Fleet Department.
· Ensure that only Fit to Load (FTL) drivers and Trucks as certified by VIO/HSE officers on site are allowed to load/ proceed on journeys.
· Ensure all trucks are sent to the workshop for Preventive Maintenance (PM) as per monthly schedule issued by Fleet. Delays or constraints, if any, should be communicated to the Logistics Manager and derogation sought.
· Ensure adequate and proper service and maintenance of all your assigned Fleet of trucks.
· Periodically check the accessories on trucks to ensure their efficacy and raise requests for replacements/ issuance of accessories.
· Follow/ execute instructions issued by Logistics Manager from time to time.
3. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, security regulations and policies.
· Ensure that adequate and effective risk assessments are undertaken and regularly reviewed.
· Liaise with the HSE department to address any unresolved health, safety, or security issues.
· Responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of all staff under your direct management, while also contributing to the overall health and safety of personnel across the business unit.
· Comply with health and safety procedures and instructions.
4. Cost Management
· Manage and track trip expenses for each truck.
· Oversee and control the expenses of each truck.
· Ensure the profitability of each truck.
· Prepare profit and loss statements for each truck and your assigned fleet.
5. People Management
· Certify that drivers are well-kitted for all operations and compliance to safety standards
· Monitor performance of drivers and provide leadership in the achievement of set targets
- Always ensure Driver training and refresher training.
· Self-development and continuing personal development.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a first degree in Logistics, Transport Management, or a related discipline.
- Membership of a relevant professional body is an added advantage
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience in logistics and transport operations within the Transportation and Logistics industry.
- Strong understanding of fleet management, driver coordination, and logistics operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Pay: From ₦240,000.00 per month
