Company Overview:

A Not-for-Profit Organization is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Research Officer with expertise in Corporate Governance. This role will focus on conducting impactful research and contributing to the organization's knowledge base through the publication of articles, journals, and books.

Position Overview:

The Research Officer will play a pivotal role in educating the general public and advancing our advocacy of corporate governance principles and practices. This position requires a candidate with a strong research background, a commitment to scholarly work, and the ability to contribute to academic and industry literature.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute research projects on corporate governance and related themes, employing both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Conduct policy analysis and thought leadership research to inform advocacy, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives of the Society.
  • Produce and publish high-quality articles, policy briefs, and reports on emerging corporate governance issues and best practices.
  • Support the bi-annual Corporate Governance Journal, coordinating article submissions, peer reviews, and editorial processes with external contributors and experts.
  • Develop and manage the Society's research database, ensuring effective documentation, accessibility, and dissemination of governance knowledge.
  • Contribute to the production of bi-monthly articles, newsletters, and blogs for the Society's communication platforms to promote governance awareness and insights.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Unit to ensure research outputs are translated into engaging content for public dissemination and stakeholder engagement.
  • Prepare and contribute to grant proposals and research funding applications, ensuring alignment with SCGN's strategic objectives.
  • Conduct stakeholder consultations, interviews, and surveys to support evidence-based recommendations for governance improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate corporate governance trends, national and international frameworks, and provide periodic analytical updates to management.
  • Support capacity-building programs and policy dialogues by providing research content, briefing notes, and background papers.
  • Contribute to book projects, technical papers, and conference presentations that advance SCGN's thought leadership in governance.
  • Manage timelines and deliverables for all research outputs to ensure timely completion and dissemination.

Qualifications:

  • LL.B in Law.
  • Proven experience in conducting research on corporate governance issues.
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills.
  • Track record of publishing articles, journals, or books in reputable outlets.
  • Excellent writer and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
