This role involves liaising with regulatory bodies, monitoring changes in legislation, and guiding internal teams to maintain compliance across the entire product lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with national and international food laws and regulations (e.g. NAFDAC, SON, CODEX, FDA, EFSA, etc.)Prepare and manage regulatory submissions, renewals, and registrations for new and existing products.Maintain up-to-date records of regulatory documentation and certifications.Internal Compliance ManagementDevelop, implement, and monitor internal compliance programs and SOPs.Conduct internal audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues.Provide training and guidance to departments (R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing, QA/QC) on regulatory requirements.Labeling and Claims ReviewReview product labels, marketing materials, and advertising to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.Verify the accuracy of health claims, ingredients listings, and nutritional information.Regulatory Intelligence & CommunicationStay informed on changes to food safety regulations, industry standards, and compliance practices.Liaise with relevant regulatory bodies and external consultants as needed.Advise management on regulatory risks and provide recommendations for mitigation.Qualifications and RequirementsBachelor's degree in Food Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Law, or a related field.Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in regulatory affairs or compliance, preferably in the FMCG or food industry.In-depth knowledge of local and international food regulatory frameworks.Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.Proficient in preparing regulatory submissions and managing documentation.Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.Strong ethical standards and a commitment to upholding company values.Preferred QualificationsProfessional certifications in Regulatory Affairs or Compliance.Experience working with product registrations.
