Role Overview

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will drive revenue growth, market expansion, and strategic partnerships while working closely with product and technology teams. The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen with an understanding of 
software development processes
, including 
sprint planning, product lifecycle management
, and the use of 
JIRA and Confluence
 for collaboration.

This role requires someone who can engage senior stakeholders, write strong proposals, understand product workflows, and align customer needs with technical delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Market Expansion & Opportunity Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across financial services, fintech, public sector, and enterprise markets.
  • Conduct market analysis and competitive research to support strategic growth.
  • Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline through proactive prospecting and networking.

2. Strategic Partnerships & Deal Closure

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with banks, fintechs, government institutions, and corporate organisations.
  • Lead negotiations, develop commercial terms, and close high-value deals.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.

3. Proposal Writing & Executive Presentations

  • Prepare high-quality proposals, RFP/RFI responses, concept notes, and business cases.
  • Create compelling PowerPoint presentations, demos, and product pitches.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align customer requirements with solution capabilities.

4. Collaboration With Product & Engineering Teams

  • Participate in 
    sprint planning, backlog conversations, and product roadmap discussions
     to ensure client needs and market insights are incorporated into product development.
  • Use 
    JIRA
     to track customer-related feature requests, user stories, and issues.
  • Use 
    Confluence
     to document requirements, proposals, and customer onboarding details.
  • Provide structured feedback from clients to support product lifecycle enhancements.

5. Revenue Growth & Account Management

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Manage and grow existing accounts through upselling, cross-selling, and value-added services.
  • Monitor account health, track performance metrics, and ensure customer satisfaction.

6. Business Strategy & Planning

  • Contribute to go-to-market strategies, pricing frameworks, and competitive positioning.
  • Support leadership with analytical insights, proposals for product expansion, and market direction.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts, reports, and strategic recommendations.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, IT, Economics, or related field.
  • 4–7 years experience in Business Development, Sales, Partnerships, or Strategic Accounts.
  • Working knowledge of Agile delivery
    , including sprints, stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint planning.
  • Hands-on experience using JIRA and Confluence
     for project collaboration and product documentation.
  • Strong understanding of 
    product lifecycle management (PLM)
     and software delivery processes.
  • Excellent proposal writing, pitch development, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in 
    Microsoft Office
     (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Proven experience meeting revenue targets and closing enterprise deals.
  • Must Have Management Consulting Experience

Preferred

  • Background in fintech, SaaS, digital identity, open banking, or technology consulting.
  • Familiarity with APIs, integrations, and technical product concepts.
  • Experience with CRM systems (HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities.
