About TEDxMaitama:

TEDxMaitama is a locally organized TEDx event dedicated to spreading ideas worth sharing across Africa. Our mission is to inspire, challenge, and connect a diverse audience of thinkers, creators, and changemakers.

Role Overview:

The senior curator is responsible for shaping the creative and intellectual vision of TEDxMaitama events. This role involves identifying, recruiting, and coaching speakers; developing compelling themes; and ensuring that each talk aligns with the TED ethos and resonates with our audience. The Senior Curator will also oversee the content pipeline and collaborate closely with production, creative, and community teams to deliver a high-quality, thought-provoking experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine TEDxMaitama event themes in line with the mission and vision.
  • Identify and recruit speakers with impactful ideas, ensuring diversity in perspectives and disciplines.
  • Coach speakers through concept development, storytelling, and presentation delivery.
  • Curate talk content to ensure relevance, clarity, and alignment with TED standards.
  • Work with creative, production, and media teams to integrate talks into the overall event experience.
  • Collaborate with the TEDxMaitama team to research trends, emerging topics, and regional issues that inspire conversation.
  • Maintain relationships with past and potential speakers, thought leaders, and partners.
  • Support post-event content strategy, including online distribution and audience engagement.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in content curation, storytelling, or creative direction, preferably within events, media, or knowledge platforms.
  • Strong network across thought leaders, innovators, and creators in Africa.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching speakers or content creators is highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of TEDx standards and experience with live or hybrid events is a plus.
