Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Credit and Risk Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating credit and operational risks while ensuring the organization adheres to internal policies, industry regulations, and sound financial practices. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding the firm's financial health and supporting sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a robust risk management framework focused on credit, operational, and market risks.
  • Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or investment.
  • Assess current and potential credit exposures, providing recommendations for mitigating risk.
  • Evaluate internal control systems to ensure adequate safeguards against credit and operational risks.
  • Prepare and deliver regular risk analysis reports to senior management with actionable insights.
  • Design and maintain credit risk scoring models and risk rating tools.
  • Monitor client portfolios for risk indicators and recommend remediation strategies.
  • Support the development and execution of business continuity and crisis management plans.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments across departments and advise on control enhancements.
  • Promote risk awareness across the organization through training, workshops, and policy communication.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. A minimum of Second Class Upper.

Experience

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, risk management, or internal control, preferably in a bank, microfinance, or financial services environment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of credit principles, risk management frameworks, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Solid analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in interpreting financial statements and building financial models.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with financial markets and investment products is an added advantage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to ₦350,000.00 per month
