Job Summary
- The Ideal candidate for will hold a dual leadership role, responsible for both the overall strategic direction of the REIF and the management of its investment portfolio. The REIF focuses on investments in mortgages, construction finance, and off-take guarantees.
- You will lead the Fund in achieving its financial goals, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. This position requires a visionary leader with deep expertise in real estate finance, investment management, and operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Vision and Strategy: Develop and execute the overall vision and strategy for the REIT, ensuring alignment with the Board's objectives and the company's long-term goals.
- Market Positioning: Position the REIT as a leading investment vehicle in the real estate finance sector, particularly in mortgages, construction finance, and off-take guarantees.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with investors, financial institutions, developers, and regulators to build strong relationships and support the REIT's strategic goals.
Fund Raising:
- Leads fund raising initiatives including information creation, presentations and investor engagements. Actively oversees marketing of funds during capital raising.
Investment Management:
- Investment Strategy: Develop and oversee the REIT's investment strategy, focusing on identifying, assessing, and managing investments in mortgages, construction finance projects, and off-take guarantees.
- Portfolio Management: Manage the REIT's investment portfolio, ensuring it is diversified, balanced, and aligned with the company's risk appetite and return objectives.
- Risk Assessment: Implement robust risk management practices, conducting thorough due diligence and continuously monitoring the performance and risk of all investments.
Financial Performance:
- Profitability: Drive the REIT's profitability by optimizing investment decisions, managing costs, and ensuring efficient capital allocation.
- Financial Oversight: Collaborate with the CFO to oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, ensuring the REIT's financial health and stability.
- Capital Markets: Lead efforts in raising capital, managing investor relations, and ensuring that the REIT maintains a strong capital structure.
Operational Management:
- Efficiency and Effectiveness: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the REIT, ensuring that all functions, including investment management, finance, legal, and compliance, are running smoothly and efficiently.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards, maintaining a strong governance framework.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Executive Leadership: Lead the senior management team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration across the organization.
- Talent Management: Oversee talent management initiatives, including recruitment, development, and retention of key personnel within the REIT.
- Mentorship: Serve as a mentor to senior executives and other key team members, providing guidance and support to drive individual and organizational success.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Risk Framework: Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework that addresses the unique risks associated with mortgages, construction finance, and off-take guarantees.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all investment and operational activities comply with relevant regulations, internal policies, and best practices.
- Audit and Reporting: Work closely with the Board and external auditors to ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to all governance standards.
Market Research and Analysis:
- Industry Trends: Stay informed about market trends, economic indicators, and industry developments that could impact the REIT's investment strategy and operations.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Use data analytics and market research to inform investment decisions and identify emerging opportunities and threats.
- Strategic Insights: Provide the Board and senior management with insights and recommendations based on market analysis and research.
Reporting and Communication:
- Board Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Board of Directors on the REIT's performance, strategy, and key initiatives, ensuring that the Board is well-informed to make strategic decisions.
- Investor Relations: Communicate the REIT's strategy, portfolio performance, and risk management approach to investors and other stakeholders, maintaining their confidence and support.
- Public Representation: Represent the REIT at industry conferences, investor meetings, and public forums, serving as the primary spokesperson for the company.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
- CFA, CAIA, or similar investment-related certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in real estate finance, investment management, or a related field, with significant experience in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing large and complex investment portfolios, with a focus on mortgages, construction finance, and off-take guarantees.
- Extensive experience in strategic planning, financial management, and operational leadership within the real estate or financial services industry.
- Deep understanding of real estate finance, including mortgages, construction finance, and off-take guarantees.
- Strong financial acumen, including expertise in financial modelling, capital markets, and investment analysis.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational success.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- High level of integrity, with a commitment to ethical investment practices and transparency.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of financial tools for tracking projects and familiarity with accounting principles
