JOB DESCRIPTION: LOGISTICS MANAGER

1) Design and develop standard operating methods to manage logistics operations efficiently.
2) Develop and execute methodologies to enable effective implementation of logistic plans
3) Liaise with suppliers, logistic vendors, and end users to resolve any outstanding issues.
4) Responsible for preparing shipping documentation and providing support in merging materials into single shipments, including crating and packing when necessary.
5) Analyse and achieve the requirements of all shipping and commercial documentations for all deliveries and identify correct approvals, handling, and packaging.
6) Organise transportation activities, including storage of goods, managing information accrued from point of origin to delivery, orchestrating transportation movements, and arranging for services as necessary.
7) Review freight rates and other transportation costs to keep working costs low.
8) Monitor logistic vendors and provide reports on performance, costs, and product development.
9) Maintains quality and efficiency throughout the logistic processes.
10) Resolve general logistics problems, variations, and dispute issues, with an appreciation of the overall value-effectiveness of solutions.
11) Achieve logistics and expediting activities between suppliers, logistics vendors, and end users to satisfy business requirements and targeted savings.
12) Establish ethical relationships with suppliers and logistic vendors to ensure the most cost-effective solutions.
13) Assess efficiency of suppliers and vendors, and proffer solutions to ongoing problems.
14) The expediter works to maintain the movement of materials from vendors and suppliers
15) Provide support to the Purchasing Manager to ensure that strategies developed for products are aligned with the overall business strategy
16) monitors the orders to be sure that the materials are delivered in the specified amount of time.
17) Maintains contact with the shipping or transportation companies to prevent delays in shipments.
18) Inspects goods upon delivery to ensure that the standards of quality are met, and the appropriate quantity/quality has been received.
19) Ensure that the appropriate goods are transferred to each client before deadline.

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

• 5-8 years as a logistics professional.
• Supply chain certification is an additional advantage.
• Third-Party Coordination: Managing relationships with transporters, freight forwarders, and 3PL providers.
• Warehouse Operations: Oversight of receiving, storage, picking, and dispatch.
• Inventory Management: Keeping stock levels optimized while avoiding shortages or overstocking
• Fleet & Route Optimization: Ensuring goods are delivered in the fastest, most cost-efficient manner.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with customs, shipping regulations, safety standards, and import/export procedures.
• Scalability Planning: Designing systems and processes that can grow with the business.
