Overview

The Child Protection Specialist will provide quality oversight to ensure the effective implementation of community-based reintegration programs for children affected by armed conflict.

Key Responsibilities

">
  • ">
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership in strengthening community-based structures that support vocational and skills training for children released from armed groups.">
  • Support the coordination and implementation of an inter-sectoral social norms change strategy to end violence against children, including child marriage and FGM/C.">
  • Strengthen collaboration with other programs to ensure synergies and linkages between reintegration activities and other sectors, including education and health.">
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to assess progress, identify bottlenecks, and take timely decisions to resolve issues.">

Requirements

  • ">
  • An advanced university degree in conflict management, international law/human rights law, or a related field.">
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working with the UN and/or NGOs, with significant experience in child protection.">
  • Good technical understanding and familiarity with children and armed conflict.">
  • Demonstrable training and capacity building skills for a range of stakeholders.">

Additional Information

">

UNICEF offers a competitive salary of $120,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is open to nationals of Nigeria only. The successful candidate will be employed on a fixed-term contract for two years, renewable based on performance and availability of funds.
