Job Description: Facility Officer in a Faith Based OrganisationLocation: Lagos, NigeriaEmployment Type: Full-TimeReports To: Maintenance Committee, Church SecretaryJob Summary:The Facility Officer at Ijero Baptist Church is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, upkeep, and operational efficiency of the church's facilities, including the worship centre, offices, restrooms, and surrounding grounds. Working under the oversight of the Maintenance Committee, in collaboration with the Church Secretary, the Facility Officer ensures a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that supports the church's mission to foster worship and community activities.Key Responsibilities:=> Facility Maintenance and Upkeep:Perform routine inspections of the church premises to identify maintenance needs (e.g., plumbing, electrical, roofing, or structural repairs) and report findings to the Maintenance Committee.=> Execute cleaning tasks or supervise custodial volunteers to ensure the sanctuary, classrooms, restrooms, and other areas are tidy and presentable.=> Maintain the church's grounds, including landscaping, lawn care, and parking areas, as directed by the Maintenance Committee.Safety and Security:=> Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, maintaining fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency exits, reporting any issues to the Maintenance Committee.=> Monitor security measures (e.g., locks, alarms, lighting) and recommend improvements to the committee to protect church property and ensure congregant safety.=> Address immediate safety or security concerns and escalate to the Church Secretary as need May arise.Worship services/Event Support:=> Assist in setting up facilities for worship services, events, weddings, funerals, and other programs, including audio-visual equipment, and decorations, as instructed by the Maintenance Committee or Church Secretary.=> Ensure facilities are functional before worship services/events and properly cleaned and stored afterwards.Inventory and Equipment Management:=> Maintain an inventory of facility-related supplies (e.g., cleaning materials, light bulbs, tools) and report restocking needs to the Maintenance Committee.=> Perform minor maintenance on church equipment (e.g., sound systems, projectors, HVAC units) and=> Relate with external vendors for major repairs, as approved by maintenance committee.=> Keep records of maintenance activities and provide updates to the Church Secretary for documentation.Collaboration and Reporting:=> Work closely with the Maintenance Committee to implement facility-related plans and projects, providing regular updates on progress and challenges.=> Submit maintenance reports and recommendations to the Church Secretary for review by the Committee.=> Participate in maintenance committee meetings as required to discuss facility needs and priorities.Team Support:Coordinate with Church Admin Officer, custodial volunteers, or workers assigned by the Maintenance Committee, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.Provide guidance to volunteers on proper cleaning and maintenance procedures, as directed by the committee.Environmental Stewardship:Support energy efficiency and sustainability efforts (e.g., optimizing electricity and water usage) as guided by the Maintenance Committee.Ensure proper waste management and recycling practices are followed.Qualifications and Skills:Education/Experience:Minimum of a National Diploma or equivalent; technical training in facility management, electrical, plumbing, or related fields is a plus.2–5 years of experience in facility maintenance, custodial work, or a similar role.Skills and Abilities:Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and general repair skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to details and must be very proactive.Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting (e.g., Microsoft Office or Google Workspace).Working Conditions:The role may require flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, to support church events and services, as directed by the Maintenance Committee.Compensation:Competitive Salary.Health InsurancePensionLeave AllowanceApplication Process:Interested candidates should submit their resume and a brief cover letter to Applications will be reviewed by and shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.
