Role :

To manage and oversee the entire production and quality control operations of the Cold Rolling Mill and Galvanizing Plant, ensuring consistent product quality, optimal plant performance, adherence to process parameters, and achievement of production targets for galvanized corrugated sheets, galvanized pipes, and CRCA sheets.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management

  • Plan, organize, and control all production activities for Cold Rolling, Annealing, Galvanizing, and Corrugation units.
  • Ensure continuous and efficient production in line with monthly and annual production targets.
  • Monitor and optimize process parameters for rolling, pickling, annealing, galvanizing, and pipe forming operations.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, utilities, and logistics teams for smooth plant operations and minimal downtime.
  • Supervise the production of various end products:
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety norms.

Quality Control

  • Develop and implement quality standards, inspection plans, and testing protocols for CR, CA, and GI products.
  • Ensure all products meet customer and international standards such as ASTM, JIS, or equivalent.
  • Supervise laboratory operations for mechanical and chemical testing (coating thickness, tensile strength, elongation, hardness, etc.).
  • Monitor and control coating weight, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy of galvanized products.
  • Analyze process and product non-conformities and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Liaise with customers for quality approvals, complaints resolution, and technical audits.

Process Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, yield improvement, and wastage reduction.
  • Introduce and maintain process control measures (SPC, Six Sigma tools, etc.) for consistent quality output.
  • Support R&D initiatives for new product development or process modifications.

People & Resource Management

  • Lead and train production and QC teams to improve skill levels and process understanding.
  • Manage shift operations and manpower deployment efficiently.
  • Promote safety culture and ensure strict compliance with EHS standards

Desired Profile:

Desired Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Cold Rolling, Annealing, and Galvanizing process operations.
  • Hands-on experience with corrugation and pipe forming mills.
  • Expertise in process control, metallurgy of low carbon steel, and coating technology.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / OHSAS quality systems.
  • Analytical mindset for root cause analysis and problem-solving.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.

Qualification & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in Cold Rolling & Galvanizing Plant operations.
  • Prior exposure to production of GC sheets, CRCA sheets, and galvanized pipes is essential.
  • Experience in setting up new lines or commissioning will be an added advantage.
