Job Title: Bookkeeper
Reports To: Operations Manager / CEO
Location: Fame Lagos
Job Summary
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for all Fame Lagos businesses, including event spaces, catering, and rentals. This role manages day-to-day financial operations, processes payments to vendors and suppliers, tracks expenses, and ensures proper documentation of all purchases and transactions. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, trustworthy, and proficient in QuickBooks (online or desktop).
Key Responsibilities1 Financial Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all financial transactions using QuickBooks.
- Record payments, invoices, receipts, and petty cash expenses daily.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit accounts, and cash balances regularly.
- Prepare weekly and monthly financial summaries for management review.
2 Vendor & Supplier Payments
- Process payments to vendors, suppliers, and service providers promptly and accurately.
- Verify all purchase requests and ensure items or services received match invoices and delivery notes.
- Maintain an organized file of all supplier invoices, receipts, and payment proofs.
- Track vendor balances and update payment status on QuickBooks.
3 Purchases & Expense Verification
- Cross-check goods delivered with purchase orders and supplier invoices to ensure accuracy in quantity, quality, and pricing.
- Work closely with the Procurement Officer or Operations Manager to ensure budget compliance.
- Investigate discrepancies or errors in billing or deliveries and resolve promptly.
- Monitor inventory purchases and update cost of goods accordingly.
4 Cash & Petty Cash Management
- Manage petty cash disbursements and ensure proper approvals before payment.
- Reconcile petty cash weekly and prepare reimbursement requests when needed.
- Record all petty cash expenses in QuickBooks accurately.
5 Reporting & Compliance
- Generate and share weekly expenditure reports and monthly financial statements.
- Assist with payroll preparation, tax remittance, and other statutory obligations.
- Support auditors and provide all required documentation during audits or financial reviews.
- Ensure all accounting and record-keeping practices align with Fame Lagos financial policies.
Requirements
- HND or B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years experience as a Bookkeeper, Accountant, or Finance Officer (hospitality or service industry preferred).
- Proficient in QuickBooks (online or desktop) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Integrity, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.
- Strong problem-solving and reconciliation skills.
Working Hours
- Mondays to Saturdays (flexible hours based on event schedules).
- Must be available for end-of-month closings and reporting deadlines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₦200,000.00 per month
