The Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, drainage systems, and water supply lines. The role ensures proper functioning of water and sanitation infrastructure within residential, commercial, or industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation of Plumbing Systems
Install and assemble pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures.
Install water heaters, pumps, and other plumbing equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints and building plans for plumbing layouts.
- Maintenance & Repairs
Diagnose issues with plumbing systems such as leaks, blockages, and low water pressure.
Repair or replace pipes, faucets, toilets, sinks, pumps, and other fixtures.
Conduct routine inspections to identify potential plumbing problems.
- Drainage & Waste System Management
Clear clogged drains and sewer lines.
Ensure proper functioning of sanitation systems.
Install and maintain wastewater disposal systems.
- Preventive Maintenance
Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance on plumbing systems and equipment.
Test system performance and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Maintain records of maintenance activities.
- Safety & Compliance
Adhere to building codes, health regulations, and safety guidelines.
Ensure proper use of plumbing tools and safety equipment.
Report hazardous conditions or equipment failures promptly.
- Collaboration & Support
Work with facility managers, engineers, and other technicians to resolve plumbing-related issues.
Provide feedback and recommendations for improving plumbing systems.
Assist in emergency repairs and respond to urgent service calls.
Qualifications & Requirements
Technical training, trade test certification, or vocational qualification in Plumbing.
2–5 years hands-on experience in plumbing installations and repairs.
Strong knowledge of pipes, fittings, water supply systems, and drainage networks.
Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints.
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Physical fitness and ability to handle plumbing tools and manual labor.
Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
