Position Summary

The
Senior Human Resources Manager
will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of all HR functions at TEDxMaitama. This role involves building a vibrant, high-performing culture across our team of staff, volunteers, and partners. The successful candidate will lead initiatives in talent acquisition, performance management, organizational development, diversity & inclusion, and staff engagement, ensuring alignment with TEDxMaitama's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic HR Leadership

• Design and implement an HR strategy that supports TEDxMaitama's organizational goals and growth plans.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to the Curator and leadership team on people, culture, and organizational development issues.
• Champion a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and continuous learning.

2. Talent Acquisition & Development

• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention of staff, fellows, and volunteers.
• Design career growth frameworks and learning pathways for team members.
• Build relationships with universities, organizations, and professional bodies for talent pipelines.

3. Performance & Culture Management

• Implement performance management systems, appraisals, and feedback mechanisms.
• Drive team-building initiatives, recognition programs, and volunteer motivation strategies.
• Ensure TEDxMaitama's values—innovation, excellence, inclusivity, and integrity—are embedded in all operations.

4. HR Operations & Compliance

• Oversee HR policies, contracts, and legal compliance in line with Nigerian labor laws and TEDx global guidelines.
• Maintain accurate personnel records, HR databases, and reports.
• Manage payroll, benefits administration, and volunteer stipends in coordination with the finance team.

5. Organizational Development

• Support leadership in structuring teams for efficiency and impact.
• Facilitate organizational assessments, feedback loops, and capacity-building workshops.
• Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across all TEDxMaitama programs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree or professional certification such as CIPM, SHRM preferred).
• Minimum of
  7 years
  of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, preferably within creative, nonprofit, or event-driven organizations.
• Strong understanding of HR best practices, Nigerian labor law, and volunteer management frameworks.
• Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working in high-energy, purpose-driven, or innovation-focused environments.
