Our client, a fast-growing organisation operating across agricultural value chains, is seeking a committed and field-oriented Agricultural Extension Officer Assistant to support farmer engagement, field operations, training activities, and productivity monitoring. The ideal candidate is energetic, hands-on, and passionate about working directly with farmers, cooperatives, and rural communities to improve agricultural outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the extension team in farmer mobilisation, community sensitisation, and onboarding activities within assigned project locations.
  • Join field visits to observe crop performance, learn about Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), and assist in providing basic follow-up support to farmers under supervision.
  • Help collect simple field data such as crop growth observations, input usage notes, challenges raised by farmers, and environmental conditions.
  • Work alongside farmer groups and cooperatives to support record-keeping, meeting coordination, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Help with the distribution of inputs, seedlings, or tools and ensure that basic documentation is completed accurately.
  • Draft weekly field summaries, basic activity reports, and incident notes, escalating urgent issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Work with the M&E team to support survey administration, data entry, pre-testing of forms, and routine monitoring tasks.
  • Assist in maintaining positive relationships with community leaders, farmer associations, and other stakeholders by supporting communication, follow-ups, and coordination.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or ND/HND in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Extension, Environmental Management, or any related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience working with farmer groups, agricultural programs, field extension activities, or rural community engagements.
  • Strong understanding of local cropping systems, field monitoring, and farmer support techniques.
  • Good communication skills in English and Hausa; ability to interact effectively with rural communities.
  • Physically fit and willing to spend extended time in communities and on farmlands.
  • Strong documentation, observation, and problem-solving skills.
