Role Title: Head of Finance

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic finance professional to join its senior management team as Head of Finance. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is critical to the financial health, stability, and growth of the company. The ideal candidate will bring a strong analytical mindset, commercial acumen, drive, energy and leadership experience to shape financial strategy, ensure compliance, and drive long-term profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership:

• Act as a strategic business partner to the CEO and executive leadership team, contributing to the company's overall vision and long-term growth trajectory.
• Develop and execute financial strategies that support the achievement of business objectives and improve financial performance across all entities.
• Provide insights and analysis to support pricing, investment, inventory, and expansion decisions.

Financial Planning and Analysis:

• Lead the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning in alignment with business goals.
• Deliver data-driven insights and recommendations that drive profitability and operational efficiency.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.

Audit and Risk Management:

• Identify and mitigate financial risks by implementing internal controls, ensure timely reconciliations of accounts, ledgers e.t.c
• Coordinate annual financial audits and manage relationships with external auditors.

Cost Management:

• Collaborate with department heads and key stakeholders to monitor and control expenses, optimizing financial performance across all business units.

Capital Management:

• Evaluate and manage current capital structure, lead the development of fundraising initiatives to support business goals
• Manage business cash flow to adequately support company operations, optimize liquidity and efficiently allocate funds.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely collections and payments.

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture and professional development.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a Finance related discipline; possession of professional certification (E.g. ICAN, ACCA) is essential. A postgraduate degree in a related discipline will be an advantage.
• A minimum of ten years experience; with at least 5 years experience in a senior Finance Management role within a well-structured corporate trading organization. Strong understanding of the manufacturing, fashion and retail industry is a plus.
• Proven leadership, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Proven experience in the design, implementation and monitoring of financial systems and processes.
• Conversant with federal and state financial regulations and applicable laws, knowledge and experience of corporate finance and accounting principles as well as reporting under IFRS.
• Proven leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to turn data into actionable insight.
• Proficient in financial management software, ERPs, and MS Office Suite. Experience with retail-specific software is a plus.
