Technical QA

Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria VivaFemini Full time ₦4,000,000 - ₦10,000,000 per year

Job Title: Technical QA & Software Compliance Specialist

Company:
VivaFemini

Location:
Remote

Engagement:
Contract / Fractional / Milestone‑Based

Compensation:
Milestone‑based, performance‑linked (bonus structure aligned with pre‑launch stage)

About VivaFemini

VivaFemini is building Africa's leading digital health ecosystem for women; trusted, culturally relevant, and privacy‑first care at your fingertips. We are a pre‑launch digital health startup on a mission to make women's healthcare accessible, safe, and dignified across Africa. We're looking for a
hands‑on Technical QA & Software Compliance Specialist
to help us build a secure, robust, and audit‑ready platform as we move towards launch.

This is
not
a box‑ticking compliance role. We need someone who understands
software, security, and testing in practice
and can translate that into concrete safeguards in our product.

Why This Role Matters

  • Direct product impact:
You will own the quality and technical compliance of our core platform; what you put in place will directly shape how safe, stable, and trustworthy VivaFemini is for thousands of women.
  • Deeply technical:
This role sits at the intersection of
software testing, application security, and regulatory expectations
    (NDPR/GDPR, ISO 27001 mindset, etc.).
  • Milestone‑based engagement:
    This is a
contract role with clear milestones and deliverables
, with scope to transition into a full‑time role as we grow and raise funding.
  • High ownership:
You will work directly with the founders, Product, and Engineering teams to define what "good" looks like for quality and security.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and executing
    software QA and testing
for our web and mobile products.
  • Embedding
    security‑by‑design practices
    into our engineering lifecycle.
  • Ensuring
    technical compliance
with relevant data protection and security standards (NDPR/GDPR, ISO 27001 principles, etc.).
  • Producing
    audit‑ready documentation
    that stands up to scrutiny.

You will work closely with our CTO, Product Managers, Engineering/design teams, legal/compliance/clinical safety team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Software QA & Testing

  • Review product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for testability.
  • Design, document, and execute
test plans, test cases, and regression suites
    for web and mobile.
  • Perform
functional, regression, integration, and basic performance testing
    .
  • Log, track, and validate defects using our issue tracker (e.g., Jira, Linear, etc.).
  • Help define and enforce
    "go/no‑go" criteria
    for releases.
  • Where feasible, set up
    lightweight automation
(low‑code tools, scripts) to cover repetitive QA checks.

2. Technical Security & Software Compliance

  • Work with Engineering to embed
    secure development practices
(e.g., input validation, auth flows, access control, secrets management).
  • Support the definition and implementation of
    security controls
inspired by ISO 27001 and similar standards (even if we are not yet pursuing full certification).
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining a
    risk register
    for technical and security risks.
  • Support basic
    vulnerability management
: identify, track, and ensure remediation of critical issues.
  • Contribute to
    DPIAs
, security checklists, and pre‑release technical compliance reviews.
  • Collaborate with legal/compliance advisors to ensure engineering practices align with NDPR/GDPR requirements.

3. Documentation & Audit Readiness

  • Maintain clear, concise documentation for:
  • Test plans and execution reports
  • Release readiness checklists
  • Security and technical compliance controls
  • Ensure we can
    evidence what we say we do;
from test coverage to security controls.
  • Help prepare
    lightweight internal audit packs
for investors, partners, or regulators when needed.

4. Training & Ways of Working

  • Coach engineers and product team members on
    practical QA and security hygiene
(e.g., how to write testable stories, how to avoid common security pitfalls).
  • Help define and refine our
SDLC from a QA and security lens
(e.g., minimum tests before merging, basic code review standards).

Who You Are

  • Experience:
    3-7 years in
    software QA / testing
    and/or
    technical security/compliance
in a SaaS, fintech, healthtech, or similar environment.
  • Hands‑on tester:
Comfortable writing and executing test cases, using tools like Postman, browser dev tools, test management and bug‑tracking systems.
  • Security‑aware:
    Familiarity with concepts from
    ISO 27001
, OWASP Top 10, secure coding practices.
  • Experience working with security teams or directly implementing security controls is a strong plus.
  • Regulatory awareness:
Working knowledge of NDPR/GDPR or similar frameworks (HIPAA, etc.). You understand how they translate into
    practical product and engineering requirements
    , not just policy documents.
  • Not just IT admin:
You may know IT ops and tooling, but your core strength is
testing and technical compliance for software products
    , not just IT governance.
  • Communicator:
Can explain technical risks and trade‑offs clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Builder mindset:
Pragmatic, willing to start with "good enough" processes and iterate with us as we grow.

Bonus points if you:

  • Have experience in
    cybersecurity
    (blue team, appsec, or related).
  • Have supported or prepared for
    SOC 2 / ISO 27001 / HIPAA
    style audits.
  • Have worked in an early‑stage startup where resources are constrained and you must prioritise ruthlessly.

What Success Looks Like

  • Clear
    test plans and coverage
in place for core user journeys before launch.
  • All major releases pass agreed QA and basic security checks before going live.
  • Zero critical, avoidable security incidents
    in production.
  • We can confidently share a
concise technical QA & security overview
    with partners and investors.
  • The team begins to naturally think about
    quality and security
as part of their day‑to‑day work (not as an afterthought).

Engagement & Compensation

  • Type:
    Contract / Fractional / Milestone‑based.
  • Structure:
    Work will be organized around
    clear milestones and deliverables
(e.g., test strategy, first full regression cycle, initial security controls baseline, etc.).
  • Compensation will be aligned to these milestones, with the possibility of
    performance‑based bonuses
as we hit key launch or fundraising milestones.
  • Pre‑Launch Reality:
    We are a
    pre‑launch, pre‑seed organisation and
looking for someone who is comfortable with a lean, performance‑linked structure now, with the
possibility of a more conventional full‑time package (and potentially equity)
once we launch and raise further capital.

Why Join VivaFemini

  • Mission:
Help build safer, more dignified healthcare experiences for women across Africa.
  • Impact:
Your work will define the foundations of our
    product quality and security posture
    .
  • Autonomy:
High degree of ownership with direct access to founders and core decision‑makers.
  • Future Path:
    Strong potential to evolve into
    QA & Compliance Lead
    or
    Technical Operations / Security Lead
    as we scale.

How to Apply

Please email your CV and 2–3 relevant projects where you
led or significantly contributed
to QA, security, or technical compliance for a software product.
