A fast-growing Cleantech company is seeking a resourceful and passionate Solar Engineer to join its team. The company aims to establish 1 million electricity connections in off-grid communities by 2030.

Job Summary: We are looking for an innovative, proactive and technically adept Solar Engineer who can rapidly manage the deployment of Solar PV solutions in remote locations and urban areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop scope of works for solar projects and collaborate with the Engineering Design team to create construction design packages and supporting documentation.
  • Identify job site hazards and develop safety management plans for projects.
  • Plan and procure necessary project resources for implementation.
  • Supervise installations in a timely and cost-effective manner, maintaining high standards and compliance with best practices for solar installations.
  • Maintain up-to-date project/site documents.
  • Liaise with Management to improve company processes.
  • Participate in, review and sign-off commissioning test reports.
  • Provide weekly site reports to Management.

Project Development:

  • Support the Business Development team with technical information for Solar PV solutions that align with client needs.
  • Conduct technical project due diligence and project engineering design review.
  • Coordinate activities to retrieve energy consumption data and energy production and performance modeling for PV and energy storage systems.
  • Manage communications with Owners Engineers of clients.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of BSc or HND in engineering (civil, structural, mechanical or electrical or similar technical degree).
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies (Nigeria Society of Engineers, COREN).
  • Completed training/certifications in Solar PV project design and implementation.
  • PMP certification a plus.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a project manager, field engineer or project engineer in the Solar PV space.
  • Experience as a project manager with responsibility for management of project budget, schedule, engineering performance, construction performance, commissioning performance, quality performance and safety performance.
  • At least 2 years of engineering management of project teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in safety-focused work environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite and other Project Management Software.
  • Familiar with the use of Solar PV design software such as HOMER and Helioscope.
