Job Summary

The Fibre Optic Project Manager (PMP Certified) is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing all fibre optic network projects from initiation to completion. The role involves managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, maintaining quality control, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to scope. The ideal candidate will combine strong project management expertise with deep technical knowledge of fibre optic network systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop comprehensive project plans covering scope, timelines, budget, resources, and risk management strategies.
  • Coordinate and oversee all phases of fibre optic network design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of fibre optic installation, splicing, termination, testing, and documentation.

2. Team & Resource Management

  • Supervise field engineers, technicians, and contractors working on fibre deployment.
  • Assign responsibilities and monitor team performance to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Facilitate project meetings, progress reviews, and performance evaluations.

3. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure all installations adhere to company standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and acceptance tests (OTDR, power meter, continuity checks, etc.).
  • Maintain updated project documentation and as-built drawings.

4. Budgeting & Reporting

  • Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures.
  • Generate progress reports and communicate project status to management and stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring corrective measures are implemented promptly.

5. Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage client expectations and ensure customer satisfaction throughout project execution.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage procurement of fibre materials and network components.

6. Continuous Improvement

  • Implement best practices in project delivery, leveraging PMP methodologies.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance project efficiency and profitability.
  • Train and mentor team members on fibre optic systems and project management principles.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Telecommunications / Civil Engineering or any related field.
  • Certification:
    Project Management Professional (
    PMP
    ) Certification is
    mandatory
    .
  • Experience:
    Minimum of
    7–10 years
    of experience in fibre optic network deployment.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale fibre optic rollouts (FTTH, FTTx, Metro Fibre, or Backbone networks).

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of fibre optic technologies, network design, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency in using OTDR, power meter, and fusion splicing equipment.
  • Familiarity with GIS mapping, AutoCAD, and project scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
  • Excellent understanding of PMP project management frameworks, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
  • Strategic thinker with attention to detail and results orientation.

  • Cost efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Adherence to PMP project management standards.
