Job Description

The Accountant will be responsible for managing all financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role plays a critical part in monitoring project finances, managing budgets, preparing reports, and supporting the organization's financial stability and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Record Keeping

-Maintain accurate financial records of all company transactions.

  • -Record, reconcile, and report daily financial activities in QuickBooks and Google Sheets.

  • -Track and manage accounts receivable and payable to ensure timely collections and payments.

Budgeting & Forecasting

-Prepare project and departmental budgets in collaboration with department heads.

-Analyze budget variances and recommend corrective measures.

-Assist in preparing financial forecasts and cash flow projections.

Reporting & Documentation

-Prepare monthly management accounts, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets.

-Generate periodic financial reports for management and board review.

-Maintain documentation for all financial transactions and audits.

Compliance & Tax Management

-Ensure all statutory remittances (PAYE, VAT, WHT, Pension) are made on time.

-Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and financial institutions.

-Maintain compliance with FIRS, LIRS, and other financial regulations.

Procurement & Payment Oversight

-Verify supplier invoices, project expenses, and petty cash requests before approval.

-Monitor expenditure to ensure adherence to budget limits.

-Support procurement and operations teams with financial guidance and cost tracking.

Internal Controls & Audit

-Establish and maintain financial controls to prevent fraud and leakage.

-Conduct periodic internal audits and financial reconciliations.

-Ensure accountability and transparency across financial processes.

Financial Advisory & Analysis

-Provide financial insights and recommendations for strategic decisions.

-Support management with cost-benefit analyses of new projects.

-Evaluate financial risks and develop mitigation plans.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or real estate.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Excel, and Google Sheets.

  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial reporting standards.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.

  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
