JOB TITLE: SENIOR CREDIT CONTROL OFFICER

LOCATION: LAGOS

NATURE OF JOB: FULL TIME

As a Senior Credit Control Officer, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the organization's credit and collections process to optimize cash flow and minimize bad debt.

*Key Responsibilities*

Proactively manage and collect outstanding debts from clients to ensure timely payment and meet collection targets.

Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing customers by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and payment histories.

Recommend and set appropriate credit limits based on risk assessment.

Maintain and implement the company's credit policies and procedures, ensuring all transactions are compliant with internal guidelines and external regulatory requirements.

Reconcile client accounts, resolve billing disputes, and address customer queries promptly and professionally to maintain positive customer relationships.

Prepare and analyze various reports, including aging reports and collection performance reports, for senior management, highlighting areas of concern or opportunities for improvement.

Identify opportunities to improve existing work practices, streamline credit control processes, and implement changes to enhance efficiency and reduce bad debt.

May involve coordinating a credit control team, providing guidance and support to junior officers, and potentially deputizing for the Credit Control Manager in their absence.

Liaise closely with other departments, such as sales, finance, and customer service, to ensure smooth operations and effective resolution of credit issues.

*Required Skills and Qualifications*

A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field. Professional certifications such as ICAN or ACCA is n added advantage.

A minimum of 7 years of experience in credit control and cash collection.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and ERP/financial software (e.g., SAP, Sage).

Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
