Role Description

This is an on-site, full-time role for a Network Support Technician based in Lagos. The Network Support Technician will be responsible for maintaining and supporting network systems, diagnosing and resolving technical issues, and ensuring network security. Day-to-day tasks will involve troubleshooting network problems, providing technical support to users, and assisting in the implementation of network configurations and upgrades.

Core responsibilities

  • Design and implementation: Building and setting up new network systems, including hardware and configuration, to meet business needs.
  • Maintenance and upgrades: Performing regular checks, updates, and maintenance on network equipment such as routers, switches, and servers.
  • Security: Implementing and managing security measures like firewalls, encryption, and access control to protect the network and data from threats.
  • Performance monitoring and troubleshooting: Continuously monitoring network performance, diagnosing problems, and fixing faults to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operation.

Key skills

  • Technical skills: Proficiency in crimping CAT5 & CAT 6 connectors is a requirement for this role. Experience working outdoor cables with various technology variations SOLE basis for this role.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in understanding routing is a plus for this role. Ability to configure devices including routers, access points and firewalls needed. Having the ability to use & understand the GUI interface is required. Knowing CLI is an added advantage.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: The ability to analyze complex systems and devise effective solutions to network problems is a must.
  • Soft skills: Strong communication skills are important for collaborating with colleagues, management, and clients. Organizational and time management skills are also key to managing multiple tasks effectively.
