Position Summary
The Business Development Executive will be responsible for identifying, pursuing and closing new business opportunities, maintaining and building relationships with existing clients, and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our services meet market needs. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of progressive business development experience, a proven track record of achieving targets, strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute business development strategies to generate new clients and increase revenue streams in line with company goals.
Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, competitive dynamics and opportunities for growth.
Identify, prospect and engage potential clients through telephonic outreach, face-to-face meetings, networking and digital channels.
Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals and contracts to clients, negotiating terms to secure agreements.
Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation, qualification, proposal, negotiation to close.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to drive repeat business and upsell or cross-sell opportunities.
Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, product, service delivery, operations) to ensure client requirements are met and service quality is maintained.
Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipelines, forecasts and performance metrics using CRM tools.
Attend industry events, conferences and networking forums to represent BSLB and enhance the company's brand and opportunities.
Provide market intelligence and feedback to senior management to support strategic decision-making and product/service evolution.
Meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets and KPIs.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics or related field.
3-5 years of proven business development or sales experience, preferably within the Nigerian market or broader African region.
Demonstrable track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
Strong prospecting, negotiation and closing skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to craft proposals and deliver presentations.
Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho) and proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Excellent interpersonal skills; able to build credibility with senior stakeholders.
Self-motivated, results-oriented, able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Willingness to travel as needed (within Nigeria or regionally).
Knowledge of the local business culture and market dynamics in Nigeria is a strong plus.

Experience in generating and managing large-value contracts/agreements.
Strategic thinker with analytical skills, able to interpret data to drive business decisions.
High level of professionalism, resilience under pressure and a proactive attitude.
Performance Metrics / KPIs
Number of new qualified leads generated per quarter.
Conversion rate from lead to contract.
Revenue achieved against target.
Growth in revenue from existing clients (upsell/cross-sell).
Pipeline value (active opportunities) and forecast accuracy.
Client satisfaction and repeat business rate.
