Job Title: Consultant Ophthalmologist

Location: Ikeja Lagos

Employment Type: Full-Time Monday – Friday (Two Saturdays on, Two Saturdays off)

Contract Type: Permanent

Reporting to: Head of Department (Clinical)

Basic Salary: ₦1,500,000 per month

Annual Housing Allowance: ₦600,000

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our clinical team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive ophthalmic care, including diagnosis, medical and surgical management, and demonstrate proficiency in laser and retinal procedures.

Responsibilities

* Provide expert ophthalmic consultations, diagnosis, and treatment for patients.

* Perform ophthalmic surgeries and manage pre- and post-operative care.

* Deliver laser procedures including SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty), YAG Capsulotomy, and Peripheral Iridotomy (PI).

* Manage medical retina cases and perform retinal laser treatments (focal, panretinal, and macular laser therapy).

* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

* Maintain accurate and compliant medical records.

* Supervise and mentor junior ophthalmology staff.

* Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and training sessions.

* Contribute to continuous improvement in clinical services and patient experience.

Requirements

* Fellowship of the Nigerian Postgraduate Medical College, West African Postgraduate Medical College, or equivalent recognized institution.

* Must be a certified Ophthalmologist registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) with a valid practicing license.

* Proven ophthalmic medical and surgical competencies.

* Proficiency in laser procedures (SLT, YAG, PI) is essential.

* Competence in Medical Retina ophthalmology and ability to perform retinal laser treatments is an added advantage.

* Excellent computer literacy and familiarity with EMR systems.

* Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

* Commitment to professional ethics and patient-centered care.
