Role Description

SmartCity PLC is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic leadership over the company's financial operations, capital structure, investor relations, and long-term fiscal planning.

The ideal candidate will drive financial strategy, strengthen governance frameworks, and lead initiatives that support growth, profitability, and risk management. The CFO will collaborate with executive leadership to optimize financial performance across all business units, including real estate development, hospitality operations, and emerging ventures.

The CFO must be a strategic thinker with hands-on execution capability, deep financial expertise, and proven success in dynamic, fundraising, investor relations, and strategic financial leadership.

This role requires someone who is deeply connected within financial markets, capable of actively securing funding for large-scale real estate and lifestyle development projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute SmartCity PLC's long-term financial strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate vision and growth objectives.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, treasury operations, and cashflow management.
• Lead capital-raising initiatives including equity, debt, and strategic investment partnerships, to support major development projects.
• Strengthen financial controls, compliance frameworks, audit processes, and internal governance systems.
• Provide strategic insight and analytics to guide executive decision-making, project feasibility, and risk assessments.
• Manage investor relations, regulatory reporting, and communications with key stakeholders.
• Oversee finance teams across accounting, project finance, procurement controls, and corporate reporting.
• Partner with development, operations, and legal teams to ensure project profitability, cost optimization, and financial sustainability.
• Assess financial risks and develop mitigation strategies, including portfolio diversification and scenario modeling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CFA is required.
• A seasoned finance executive (12–15+ years) with proven large-scale fundraising capability, strong high-level investor and banking connections, and demonstrated experience managing financial operations within a Free Trade Zone (FTZ).
• Strong network with banks, investment firms, HNIs, pension funds, DFIs, and private equity groups.
• Strong background in corporate governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in real estate, construction, infrastructure, or investment management.
• Proven ability to lead high-performing financial teams and collaborate across multiple business units.
