JOB SUMMARY
The Head of Learning at Tuteria will be responsible for building, overseeing, and continuously improving the academic, pedagogical, and curriculum standards that power Tuteria's learning experiences across all product lines: TuteriaPrep, private tutoring, star-teacher programs, and specialized exam-prep offerings.
The role requires a visionary leader, educator and strategist who can translate Tuteria's mission
into world-class curricula, mastery-based progression systems, assessments, and tutor development frameworks. The successful candidate will work very closely with Tuteria's Star Tutors
to design rigorous, exam-aligned, engaging, and scalable learning content that helps students excel in WAEC, UTME, NECO, IGCSE, A-Levels, Checkpoint, SAT, GRE, and other major examinations.
The Head of Learning will lead curriculum design, learning innovation, pedagogical quality assurance, and academic strategy across the entire organisation. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in curriculum development, assessment design, instructional methodology, and outcomes-driven learning, ensuring that every learner improves measurably through Tuteria.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Strategy & Development
Lead the creation of Tuteria's master curriculum frameworks for all subjects and exams; UTME, WAEC/NECO, IGCSE, A-Level, SAT, Checkpoint, GRE, GMAT, etc.
Work closely with Star Tutors to develop Learning Outcomes Hierarchies for each exam and subject.
Standardize lesson structures, mastery paths, topic sequences, and learning progressions for all subject areas.
Develop clear academic standards, rubrics, and competency frameworks that guide all teaching and content creation.
Ensure curricula are research-backed, evidence-driven, and benchmarked against the best global exam-prep models.
Learning Content Development
Support Star Tutors in producing high-quality learning content:
lesson notes
- lecture slides
- worksheets and drills
- assessments and mock exams
- practice questions and solutions
- flashcards, study guides, revision packs, etc.
- review and approve all academic content before publication to ensure accuracy, clarity, and pedagogical soundness.
- establish quality standards for explanation depth, teaching tone, examples, illustrations, and student practice design.
Assessment & Student Success Frameworks
Design Tuteria's assessment models: diagnostics, formative quizzes, mastery checks, mock exams, score prediction models, etc
Develop data-driven student performance frameworks that measure improvement, proficiency, mastery, and learning gaps.
Ensure all learning experiences are tied to measurable outcomes and exam performance indicators.
Monitor student data and recommend interventions that improve overall pass rates and top-score results.
Tutor Development & Quality Assurance
Provide academic leadership to Star Tutors and other tutors, guiding them on pedagogy, curriculum alignment, and teaching quality.
Conduct regular class audits, lesson reviews, and tutors' feedback sessions.
Lead periodic training programs to strengthen tutors' curriculum interpretation, delivery methods, and assessment skills.
Build a strong academic culture focused on excellence, mastery, and evidence-based teaching.
Product & Learning Innovation
Work with Product, Brands & Communications, Marketing, and other relevant teams to design engaging learning experiences, including videos, interactive practice, and digital lessons.
Introduce innovative instructional models, including but not limited to adaptive learning, spaced repetition, and mastery-based progression.
Lead the integration of learning science, cognitive psychology, and educational technology into Tuteria's tutoring products.
Explore and implement features that improve learning retention, engagement, and performance at scale.
Academic Operations & Stakeholder Collaboration
Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Brands & Communications, Growth, Operations, Star Tutors and Customer Success teams to align curriculum with student needs.
Support the creation of teacher-branding materials that are academically accurate (promotional scripts, class outlines, course descriptions, etc.).
Provide academic direction for webinars, student workshops, bootcamps, and exam-prep campaigns.
Support parents and students with expert guidance on exam preparation pathways and learning strategies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Psychology, or a relevant discipline (Master's Degree is an added advantage)
Additional professional certifications in instructional design, assessment, or learning science are a decisive advantage.
Minimum of 6–10 years of experience in curriculum development, academic leadership, exam preparation, or instructional design.
Demonstrated success designing curricula for key exams such as WAEC, UTME, IGCSE, Checkpoint, SAT, A-Level, etc.
Strong command of curriculum design principles, learning progression models, competency frameworks, and assessment theory.
Exceptional ability to break down complex concepts and map learning paths from beginner to mastery level.
Experience designing large-scale learning products, online courses, lesson frameworks, or exam-prep systems.
Familiarity with digital learning tools, content authoring platforms, and learning analytics.
Ability to mentor and challenge top-performing star tutors.
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex academic ideas clearly.
