JOB SUMMARY

We are look for a local food cook who will be responsible for preparing traditional Nigerian dishes with a focus on local ingredients and flavors.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a variety of local dishes, including soups, stews, rice dishes, and meat preparations, following established recipes or adapting them for customer preferences.
  • Select fresh, high-quality local ingredients, ensuring consistency in flavor and authenticity.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in traditional Nigerian cooking methods, including boiling, grilling, steaming, and frying.
  • Plate dishes attractively, paying attention to visual appeal and portion sizes.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment, adhering to food safety regulations.
  • Contribute to the development of menus that incorporate local favorites and seasonal dishes.
  • Order and manage supplies, ensuring a sufficient stock of ingredients.
  • Interact with customers, understanding their preferences and making recommendations.
  • Supervise other kitchen staff, if applicable, ensuring they adhere to standards.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a cook, preferably with experience in Nigerian cuisine.
  • Knowledge of local ingredients, spices, and traditional cooking techniques.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ability to follow recipes and adapt them to customer needs.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, if customer interaction is involved.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • Candidate must live with Ikoyi, Lagos Island, and its immediate environs.
