About the Role
We are seeking a visionary and growth-oriented Vice President of Business Development to lead expansion, partnerships, and operational excellence within a dynamic digital banking ecosystem. This role is ideal for a leader with a founder's mindset someone who blends strategic thinking, execution discipline, and deep curiosity about redefining how financial systems serve people and businesses in Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Partnerships
• Expand the organization's market footprint through strategic partnerships, ecosystem collaborations, and new business channels.
• Identify and pursue new revenue streams across retail, SME, and corporate segments.
• Drive customer acquisition, engagement, and retention initiatives that accelerate growth.
Operations & Compliance
• Oversee business operations to ensure efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement process automation and ensure adherence to CBN, NDIC, and other regulatory frameworks.
• Develop strategies that balance innovation with robust risk management.
Customer Experience & Innovation
• Collaborate with product and technology teams to design seamless, human-centered digital experiences.
• Champion the adoption of new technologies, tools, and financial solutions to deliver superior customer value.
• Leverage data insights to refine customer journeys and optimize engagement.
Leadership & Culture
• Build, mentor, and inspire high-performing business development teams.
• Set clear KPIs, establish accountability, and foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and performance.
• Act as a thought partner to the leadership team, contributing to strategic direction and long-term planning.
Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in banking, fintech, or financial services, with at least 4 years in leadership.
• Proven track record of scaling operations, expanding market share, or driving business development in digital or traditional financial environments.
• Strong understanding of Nigerian financial regulations, compliance, and operational frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to execute and deliver measurable results.
• Entrepreneurial mindset - bold, data-driven, and comfortable with ambiguity.
