Role Overview

  • We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to join our founding team.
  • We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Business Development Manager. Ideally, we want someone with previous startup and enterprise who has experience in all phases of the Sales execution process.
  • Africa is the world's youngest continent and expanding the fastest.
  • The number of young people working in Africa will rise to 375 million by 2030.
  • The International Monetary Fund estimates that by 2035, there will be more young Africans joining the workforce each year than there are in the rest of the world put together due to population growth on the continent.
  • The number of young individuals looking for work is much higher than the number of opportunities that are open to them.
  • The skills of young people entering the workforce and the needs of companies are also out of sync.
  • Many young people will have trouble finding employment to better their living conditions if nothing is done.
  • We have spent the last six months investigating the finest methods for creating the talent workflow system that will assist in matching African talents with opportunities.
  • Currently, at the stage of executing the prototype system, business processes while some aspect is live in production to start generating revenue and Marketing.
  • We'll close the skills gap and provide African talent greater job chances.
  • The founders are individuals with top academic background, professional experience in leading companies at leadership positions & strong technical background.
  • The aim of the company is to become a “unicorn” one-billion-dollar valuation in the next 3-5 years as the product-market is considerably validated.
  • The company’s values are centered on meritocracy, reason, entrepreneurship, and empathy.
  • The individuals who will be hired at this position will be given a significant amount of equity given that the company is at execution stage.
  • The person will be working fully remotely on a part-time basis while continuing their current job until we begin generating revenue and secure funding.
  • We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Business Development Manager. Ideally, this is a growing startup, there is no salary until we can start generating revenue and funding. Founder is open to team members having a main job until funding and revenue is secured.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and/or exceed sales quotas by engaging with prospects and setting up high quality meetings that lead to quality pipeline and revenue.
  • Utilise lead generation tools available for outreach to source leads via outbound prospecting.
  • Make contact with potential new customers across a variety of channels - phone, email, social, chat.
  • Initiating the salesforce cycle right from lead generation to transacting customers.
  • Ensure effective management of relationships with key merchants enterprise businesses.
  • Develop and maintain a robust and enterprise focused pipeline deals in CRM Freshsales.
  • Ensure that customer complaints are investigated and promptly resolved across all channels.
  • Review sales performance against set budgets on a periodic basis and recommend action plans for improvement.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly sales reports for management's review.
  • Act on behalf of; and perform any other duties that may be assigned by management.
  • Maintain expert knowledge in the use cases and benefits of Flutterwave’s offerings and how they impact each user in an organisation.
  • Support in creation of sales messaging, follow up, and presentations to customer and prospect accounts.
  • Develop creative ways and ideas for reaching and engaging with prospect personas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Sales / Business Development related field.
  • 15+ years of business development experience specializing one or more sector.
  • Proven experience in sales across banking, fintech, financial service is highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of sales systems to support successful sales delivery.
  • Curiosity, a can-do attitude and willingness to continually learn.
  • Efficient multi-tasker and ability to work & deliver under pressure.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools including Freshsales.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent people and relationship management skills, including leading a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment and can easily.
  • Ability to adapt to new and challenging projects.
  • Ability to influence others and create a sense of urgency for your cause.
