Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract
Compensation: Base pay + data & airtime allowance + performance incentives
1. Job Overview
The Field Sales Representative will serve as Cask and Crate's first point of contact within the open market ecosystem. The role is pivotal in bridging field intelligence with digital operations — combining market insights, supplier relationships, and product availability updates to strengthen our e-commerce and marketplace verticals. This role demands a proactive, tech-savvy, and detail-oriented individual who is comfortable engaging in open-market environments, managing data, and providing timely reporting.
2. Key Responsibilities
Market Intelligence & Data Collection
• Conduct daily price and inventory checks across open markets and partner outlets.
• Monitor market trends, competitive pricing, and availability of key alcoholic beverage brands.
• Identify potential back-suppliers and distributors for the e-commerce and marketplace verticals.
• Maintain a structured database of suppliers, wholesalers, and product SKUs.
Supplier & Partner Relations
• Liaise directly with existing suppliers to confirm stock levels, delivery timelines, and product updates.
• Assist in vetting and onboarding new suppliers or marketplace sellers.
• Support negotiations and ensure accurate data submission from field partners.
Sales Operations & Order Fulfilment
• Support the order fulfilment process by coordinating with logistics partners and confirming delivery accuracy.
• Assist in updating website inventory and ensuring synchronization between online listings and physical market availability.
• Provide field feedback to enhance stock planning and customer satisfaction.
Reporting & Documentation
• Prepare daily and weekly market reports, including prices, stock movement, and competitor activity.
• Update sales and supplier tracking templates on Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.
• Maintain accurate and professional communication records.
3. Required Skills and Competencies
• Strong numeric and writing skills.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Ability to use PDF tools and adapt to remote reporting and coordination.
• Must possess a smartphone (data and airtime provided by the company).
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Self-motivated, organized, and adaptable to a fast-paced FMCG environment.
• Comfort working in open markets and with diverse vendor profiles.
• Basic knowledge of the alcoholic beverage industry — brands, pricing tiers, and distribution structure.
4. Education & Experience
• Minimum qualification: OND or HND (preferably in Business, Marketing, or related field).
• Prior experience in sales, merchandising, field research, or FMCG distribution is an advantage.
• Experience with e-commerce or supplier management will be a plus.
5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Accuracy of daily market and price reports.
• Number of verified suppliers sourced and onboarded.
• Responsiveness to inventory or stock discrepancies.
• Timeliness in updating product availability and price data.
• Quality of written reports and data submissions.
6. Reporting Structure
Directly reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Works closely with the Operations and E-commerce teams for inventory and fulfilment coordination.
7. Work Tools & Support
• Data and airtime funded by company.
• Access to shared Google Drive, company email, and communication channels.
• Periodic training on inventory systems and supplier management.
8. Terms of Reference (TOR)
The Field Sales Representative shall:
Represent Cask and Crate professionally in all field and supplier engagements.
Adhere to reporting timelines, submitting daily and weekly reports as specified.
Maintain confidentiality of supplier data and internal pricing structures.
Operate ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest or market interference.
Ensure all communications and transactions reflect the values of Cask and Crate.
Undertake other field and support duties as may be assigned by the CEO.
