Job Summary
The Electrical Lead Consulting Engineer will provide expert leadership, technical direction, and project oversight across all electrical engineering consulting projects. The role involves managing end-to-end project execution—from design and feasibility studies to supervision and commissioning—ensuring high-quality, safe, and cost-effective engineering solutions that meet client expectations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership & Management
- Lead, plan, and coordinate electrical engineering projects from conception to completion.
- Define project objectives, technical requirements, timelines, and budgets.
- Supervise and review electrical design drawings, load analysis, and system specifications.
- Ensure effective coordination among multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.
- Monitor project progress, risk factors, and performance to ensure successful delivery.
2. Technical Design & Consultancy
- Provide expert technical consultancy in electrical power systems, LV/HV installations, lighting, and energy management.
- Conduct feasibility studies, design calculations, and technical analyses for client projects.
- Review and approve detailed electrical engineering drawings, BOQs, and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, BS, and local electrical codes and standards.
- Recommend innovative, energy-efficient, and sustainable engineering solutions.
3. Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary technical contact for clients, addressing inquiries and providing professional advice.
- Prepare and deliver project proposals, tenders, and technical presentations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
- Support business development through technical inputs for bids and project pitches.
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Implement quality control and assurance processes across all project phases.
- Ensure all designs and installations comply with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Prepare detailed project reports, documentation, and technical deliverables.
5. Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior electrical engineers and technicians.
- Promote continuous learning, adherence to engineering best practices, and technical excellence.
- Lead by example in maintaining professional and ethical engineering conduct.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
- Master's degree or MBA (Engineering Management) is an added advantage.
Certifications:
- Registered Engineer (NSE, COREN) required.
- NSE, COREN registration preferred.
- Certified Lead Auditor in ISO 9001 is required (additional certifications in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or API Q1/Q2 are a plus).
- Project Management certification (PMP/PRINCE2) is an added advantage.
- HSE Certification (Level 1–3) preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering consulting, design, and project management.
- Proven track record in electrical power systems, substations, distribution networks, building services, or industrial automation.
- Experience working with government or private sector engineering projects.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, Dialux, or Revit MEP).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and client management abilities.
- Deep understanding of power systems, renewable energy, and electrical infrastructure projects.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.
