Strategic Risk Leadership

  • Advise management and the Board on key risk exposures, emerging threats, and mitigation strategies.
  • Foster a strong risk culture across all business units through continuous education, engagement, and enforcement of risk controls.

Credit & Operational Risk Oversight

  • Design and oversee robust credit risk assessment models, loan approval frameworks, and portfolio monitoring systems.
  • Ensure that lending decisions are guided by sound risk assessment practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor operational processes to identify and address control weaknesses, process gaps, or risk incidents.

Compliance & Regulatory Risk

  • Ensure the company's activities comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and CBN directives.
  • Liaise with regulators, auditors, and other external stakeholders on risk and compliance matters.
  • Establish mechanisms for early detection and escalation of compliance breaches.

Financial & Market Risk Management

  • Identify and monitor financial and market exposures such as interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and concentration risk.
  • Support treasury and finance teams with strategies to mitigate funding and investment risks.

Risk Reporting & Governance

  • Prepare periodic risk reports for the Executive Management and Board Risk Committee.
  • Oversee the implementation of risk dashboards and key risk indicators (KRIs) across departments.
  • Drive the development and regular review of risk policies, manuals, and procedures.

People & Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor the Risk Management team, ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Collaborate closely with the Business, Finance, Product, Technology, and Legal teams to embed risk management into daily operations.
  • Promote a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to managing risks while supporting business growth.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in strategic decision-making sessions to ensure risk-informed business expansion.
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities as may be assigned by management

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, or related field.
  • A Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA, CRM, ACA) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years' experience in risk management within the financial services, lending, or investment industry.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing enterprise risk frameworks and policies.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative risk assessment skills.
  • Excellent understanding of credit risk, operational risk, and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and risk reporting tools.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, and attention to detail
