Role Title: Credit Operations Manager

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Role Overview

The Credit Operations Manager will lead end-to-end credit operations for a fast-growing digital finance and device-financing business. The role is responsible for credit processing, disbursement, customer verification, collections oversight, merchant/partner operations, and ensuring all credit workflows run with speed, accuracy, and zero tolerance for leakages.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, operations-driven, detail-oriented, and able to build systems that scale. This person must thrive in a high-volume, tech-enabled lending environment and ensure exceptional customer and merchant experience while safeguarding portfolio quality.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Credit Processing & Underwriting Oversight


• Supervise daily credit applications across all products (device financing, salary loans, solar financing, partner credit programs).


• Ensure timely KYC, affordability checks, risk scoring, and verification processes.


• Work with tech teams to refine automated scoring rules and reduce manual intervention.


• Approve or escalate borderline applications in line with delegated approval limits.


• Monitor risk flags, fraud attempts, and duplicate applications.

  1. Disbursement & Loan Administration


• Oversee daily loan disbursement runs to customers and partners.


• Manage reconciliation of loan disbursements, merchant payouts, and repayments.


• Ensure 100% accuracy in credit-related entries on dashboards, MIS, and financial systems.


• Work closely with Finance to resolve reconciliation gaps quickly.

  1. Collections Strategy & Portfolio Quality


• Lead the early-stage collections team; track delinquency buckets and recovery performance.


• Implement repayment reminders, repayment automation, and escalation processes.


• Monitor portfolio risk metrics (PAR, default rates, roll rates) and drive corrective actions.


• Collaborate with external collections agencies where required.

  1. Merchant & Partner Operations (Device & Solar Partners)


• Oversee onboarding, verification, and performance monitoring of merchants and agents.


• Ensure smooth device financing flows: device activation, smart locks, partner payouts, inventory confirmations, and dispute resolution.


• Support partners with reporting dashboards and credit-related queries.


• Ensure service-level agreements are met by all merchants and agents.

  1. Process Improvement & Automation


• Work with product and engineering teams to build and refine credit workflows, including:


• Digital KYC automation


• Salary verification integration


• Smart lock and device API flows


• Automated messaging and reminders


• Merchant onboarding flows


• Implement SOPs and documentation for all credit processes.

  1. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management


• Ensure all credit operations comply with internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and audit requirements.


• Maintain proper documentation, audit trails, dashboards, and reporting logs.


• Prepare credit performance reports for management and board-level reviews.

  1. Team Leadership & Performance Management


• Lead and mentor credit officers, verification staff, collections agents, and field partners.


• Set KPIs around speed, quality, turnaround time (TAT), repayment performance, and customer/merchant satisfaction.


• Develop a culture of accountability, ownership, and high performance.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience


• 5–8 years experience in credit operations, digital lending, consumer finance, fintech, or microfinance.


• Strong exposure to credit risk assessment, disbursement processes, collections, or merchant operations.


• Experience managing high-volume credit applications and tech-enabled workflows.

Technical Skills


• Strong understanding of KYC, credit scoring, affordability assessment, and fraud risk.


• Good command of Excel/Google Sheets, dashboards, and MIS tools.


• Experience working with CRM, loan management systems, or core banking systems.


• Comfortable working with product and engineering teams to improve automation.
