  • The Operations Director (Upstream) oversees all exploration and production activities within the organization's upstream sector.
  • This role requires strategic leadership to enhance operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive the achievement of production targets while maintaining safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational strategies that align with corporate goals and enhance overall production efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement best practices across teams.
  • Lead major projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Ensure all operations comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance compliance and risk management.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and productivity.
  • Analyze data and reports to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with financial goals.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, partners, and local communities, to foster strong relationships and support operational initiatives.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve operational efficiency and safety.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and innovations to maintain a competitive edge.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Geoscience, Business, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 20+ years of experience in the upstream onshore/offshore oil and gas industry, with a minimum of 7 years in a top management role.
  • Strong knowledge of exploration, drilling, production, and project management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintains a high degree of ethical conduct.
