Job Title: Agric Farm Manager

Ascentech Services Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Agric Farm Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our farm, ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough analysis of existing operations, crops, livestock, staff, and financial documents to identify areas for improvement and implement recommendations.
  • Monitor and manage staff, crops, and livestock, ensuring timely purchasing of supplies, preparation of budgets and reports, and optimal profit margins.
  • Develop and implement plans and schedules for planting and harvesting, ensuring staff understands expectations and deadlines.
  • Regularly inspect crops, livestock, and equipment, performing tests on soil and water as needed to maintain optimal farm conditions.
  • Ensure timely restocking of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other essential supplies.
  • Schedule and oversee repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery to minimize downtime.
  • Develop and execute marketing and sales strategies for farm products, including fruit, vegetables, dairy, meat, and grain.
  • Ensure all staff adheres to health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Assist with recruitment and training of new staff members, ensuring they meet the necessary qualifications and standards.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to prepare budgets and financial reports, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in agricultural science, building professional networks and sharing knowledge with the team.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, animal science, or equivalent.
  • Additional courses in business management or administration are highly recommended.
  • Extensive experience in a farming-related field, with management experience a significant plus.
  • Passion for agriculture and commitment to sustainable practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make informed decisions in stressful environments.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with sales teams and farm staff.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Knowledge of hydroponics and soilless agriculture techniques, with a willingness to learn and implement new methods.
  • Understanding of seed selection, nursery management, scheduling, crop management, harvest and post-harvest processes, and nutrient mixing.
  • Ability to interact with sales teams and farm staff to plan production, predict yields, and coordinate with sales teams.
  • Knowledge and experience of integrated pest management, with a focus on sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
  • Familiarity with basic software tools, such as MS Excel, for data collection and reporting.
