PROCUREMENT OFFICER
We are seeking a Procurement Officer who will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating the delivery of all materials, equipment, tools, and services required for the company's operations. This includes raw materials, consumables, production supplies, engineering items, and general administrative procurement. The role ensures cost effective purchasing, timely delivery, vendor compliance, and alignment with the needs of the production and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement Planning and Sourcing
- Identify purchasing needs across production, engineering, and administrative departments
- Source reliable vendors and service providers for raw materials, spare parts, tooling, consumables, and technical components
- Obtain quotations, evaluate supplier capabilities, and negotiate pricing and payment terms
- Ensure all purchases comply with company standards, quality requirements, and budget limits
2. Engineering and Technical Procurement Support
- Work with the Engineering Team to understand specifications for tools, spare parts, machines, and technical components
- Source specialised or hard to find engineering items, ensuring accuracy of specifications
- Coordinate with the engineering team on equipment maintenance related purchases
- Maintain a schedule of engineering materials, spare parts, and lead times
3. Purchasing and Order Management
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure approvals follow the procurement workflow
- Track purchase orders from approval to delivery
- Follow up with vendors for timely supply and communicate delays to relevant teams
- Maintain an updated database of products, suppliers, and pricing
4. Inventory and Production Support
- Work closely with Inventory and Warehouse Officers to maintain optimal stock levels
- Monitor consumption trends and forecast procurement needs based on production plans
- Prevent stock out situations through proactive planning and reorder follow up
- Support urgent procurement needs for production and project based requirements
5. Vendor Management
- Conduct periodic vendor evaluations based on quality, pricing, reliability, and delivery timelines
- Maintain strong professional relationships with suppliers
- Resolve vendor related issues such as delivery gaps, pricing inconsistencies, or quality defects
6. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate procurement records, quotations, purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices
- Prepare weekly and monthly procurement reports, including spend analysis, supplier performance, and outstanding orders
- Document all engineering procurement for audit traceability
7. Compliance and Cost Control
- Ensure all procurement actions follow internal approval protocols
- Maintain cost efficiency by negotiating competitive rates and exploring alternative suppliers
- Ensure purchased items meet required safety and quality standards
Qualifications
- HND or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum two years relevant experience in procurement (manufacturing or engineering environment preferred)
- Experience with technical or engineering items is a strong advantage
- Working knowledge of procurement procedures and ERP or inventory software
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation
- Ability to understand technical specifications for tools, spare parts, and machinery
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Strong analytical and cost management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple requests concurrently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₦250,000.00 per month
