Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Agricultural Operations Manager to lead our farming operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing farm operations, staff supervision, budgeting, and financial management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing existing operations, crops, livestock, staff, and financial documents to recommend improvements. They will also monitor crop health, purchase supplies, prepare budgets, and ensure maximum profit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing operations, crops, livestock, staff, and financial documents to recommend improvements.
  • Monitor crop health, purchase supplies, prepare budgets, and ensure maximum profit.
  • Prepare plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensure staff understands expectations.
  • Visit different divisions to inspect crops, livestock, and perform tests on soil and water.
  • Schedule repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.
  • Handle marketing and sales of farm products such as fruit, vegetables, dairy, meat, and grain.
  • E nsure all staff adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with the recruitment and training of new staff members.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to prepare budgets and financial reports.
  • Build professional networks and keep abreast of developments in agricultural science.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in agriculture, animal science, or equivalent.
  • Addi tional courses in business management or administration are recommended.
  • Extensive experience in a farming-related field.
  • Management experience would be a plus.
  • A passion for agriculture.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • The ability to make decisions in stressful environments.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Knowledge of seed selection.
  • Knowledge of nursery management.
  • Knowledge of scheduling/crop management.
  • Knowledge of harvest/post-harvest.
  • Nutrient mix as per crop leafy and vine.
  • Ability to interact with sales team and farm staff to plan production.
  • Ability to predict production and coordinate with sales team.
  • Knowledge and experience of integrated pest management.

Benefits

We offer competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • $80,000 - $110,000 per year (depending on experience).

Estimated Salary: $90,000 per year
